The Story Behind My Dumpling Bats Mini Enamel Pins

Say hello to the tiniest cuties in the Shlii Kawaii universe: the Dumpling Bats Mini Enamel Pins! These adorable sky puppies are small but mighty, and I had so much fun turning them into little wearable friends.

💡 The Idea Behind the Bats

I’ve always been obsessed with cute, round foods, animals, characters…everything. So the idea of a ridiculously round bat made me smile instantly.

I’m part Indo, so I grew up with bakpao which is a round, stuffed steam bun. I initially wanted to call them Bakpao Bats, but I didn’t think the.. “general public?”.. would know what that is. I know that bao and dumplings are different but felt like the word “dumpling” would be easiest to understand.

🎨 The Design Process

For the Dumpling Bat design, I started with drawing a perfect circle lol and then from there added their tiny bat elements.

At first, I only made plush with my Dumpling Bat design. My plush have always sold out, so I decided to expand and try creating more products with the character.

Once I was completely happy with their design, I sent the artwork to my pin manufacturer. My pin manu brought them to life as a super cute enamel pin!!

At just about 1 inch tall, they’re the perfect mini accessory for ita bags, jackets, hats, backpacks, etc.

✨ The Final Result

The Dumpling Bats come in five colorways: black, white, lavender, pink, aqua, and orange. Each one comes mounted on a pastel backing card, perfect for gifting or collecting.
